At the Made by Google event in early October, the company introduced Assistant with Bard, an AI helper for phones — and now we have more details on which devices will get access first.
9to5Google dug into the Google app and discovered code references to Assistant with Bard making its first appearance on new Pixel 8 and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24.
The sleuthers also say support for the generative AI assistant is planned for the Pixel 6 and newer as well as the Samsung Galaxy S23. The Pixel 8 ships on Oct. 12 and the Galaxy S24 is expected to be released in early 2024.

Assistant with Bard also harnesses the data and features of Google apps to provide contextual, personalized responses.
According to code found by 9to5Google, some example prompts include, "Draft an email to my recruiter to accept the Social Media Manager job offer and negotiate a later start date," and "Give me some ideas to surprise my concert-loving friend on their birthday."
While Pixel 8 and Galaxy S23 users, as well as future Galaxy S24 owners, will reportedly get first access to Assistant with Bard, that doesn't guarantee it will be immediately available upon purchase of the devices. The AI tool is coming soon to "select testers" and expanding availability "over the next few months," Google said.
Unless you're one of the lucky select testers, you'll have to wait, too — just not as long as other smartphone users.
