Daniel Ricciardo: Alpha Tauri driver to return from injury at United States Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo is set to make his return to racing at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas this weekend. The Australian broke a metacarpal bone in his left hand in a crash during practice at the Dutch Grand Prix two days before the race. The 34-year-old had lost control trying to avoid the crashed Oscar Piastri in the McLaren, and was replaced for the races in between for Alpha Tauri by Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson. A spokesperson for Alpha Tauri confirmed to BBC Sport that Ricciardo would return for Austin, although neither team has officially announced it. The driver himself said in an Instagram video on Sunday: “Little update: simulator’s been going well, hand is feeling good to drive. “Austin – everyone knows I love Austin. I wouldn’t miss that one for the world. See y’all in Austin.” Ricciardo was dropped by McLaren at the end of 2022, but he returned to the grid in July at the Hungarian Grand Prix, having been signed up as a Red Bull reserve driver. He was called up to Alpha Tauri when the team lost faith in Nyck de Vries after the first 10 races of the season and raced three races before the injury, and will continue to compete for the team in 2024. It may be a cause for concern for Sergio Perez, whose place as second Red Bull driver to Max Verstappen looks far from certain in the future. Perez does stand second in the drivers championship currently, but with just eight podiums and two wins, it is far from a strong position. Especially considering the two victories came within the first four races of the season. Perez came 10th in Qatar, did not finish in Japan, and came eighth in Singapore, far from the high standards set by Red Bull and Christian Horner. Max Verstappen reveals three favourite wins in 2023 title triumph
Max Verstappen says wins in Miami, Zandvoort and Suzuka were his favourite victories of the 2023 season. The Red Bull driver, in one of the most destructive F1 cars ever, stormed to his third-straight world title with 19 wins from 22 races. The 26-year-old has now revealed what races stand out for him amid a record-breaking campaign. “I think the comeback race in Miami was great, that was an important one,” he said, after his season-ending win in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. “Winning at home at Zandvoort was a very nice one and I think winning at Suzuka, after the tough weekend we had at Singapore.” Verstappen started ninth on the grid in Miami but fought back and overtook team-mate Sergio Perez to seal his second-straight win in Florida. The Dutchman won his home race despite a late crash triggering a red flag, while his win in Japan followed a disappointing showing in Singapore – the only race Red Bull failed to win all year. Verstappen added how he stays motivated to win week after week despite sealing the title back in October in Qatar. “I love driving, I think that’s – first and foremost – the most important thing to be here,” he said. “For me, naturally, the motivation is there, because I know that for most of the races that I go to this year, I have a big chance of winning, so that’s great. “I think it’s tougher when you have been in that position and then you come to a race where it’s not possible anymore, then it’s hard, or harder, to find your motivation. You need to try and look into different places, how you can keep that motivation going. “But at the moment, of course, when you’re on the top, I think it’s probably easier than when you’re in the middle of the pack.” The 2024 F1 season starts on March 2 with a Saturday night opening race – the Bahrain Grand Prix Read More F1 Drive reveal bespoke karts with ‘DRS’ for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium track Lando Norris snaps at Max Verstappen ‘BFF’ comment Carlos Sainz’s personal trainer links up with F1 rival Lewis Hamilton: ‘I had asked Mercedes for changes and they weren’t done’ Mercedes team member miraculously finds wedding ring in Abu Dhabi marina Michael Masi could return to F1 despite 2021 Abu Dhabi finale

Man who spent £12k to look like a dog reveals what his family think
A man who spent thousands of pounds to look like a dog has revealed what his life is like. In July, the man who goes by Toco on YouTube, went viral after he posted a video of himself walking around Tokyo wearing a realistic Border Collie suit, which cost him £12,500 to have custom made. He explained in the video that his life-long dream was to become a dog and explained that he chose to become a Border Collie due to the breed's size. Now he has shared more about his life as an animal in a series of press interviews. “My desire to be an animal is like a desire to transform, a desire to be something that I am not,” he told the New York Post. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter He added that he wears the costume once a week, mostly at home and his family are accepting of him. “The family was surprised, but received it favourably,” he said. 【驚愕】人が犬に変身! リアルな着ぐるみで外を散歩してみた! www.youtube.com “I am very happy that they accepted it.” In a separate interview with the Mirror, he said: “I rarely tell my friends because I am afraid they will think I am weird. “My friends and family seemed very surprised to learn I became an animal. But he told the Daily Mail his colleagues are less accepting. “They think it’s weird that I want to be a dog. For the same reason why I can’t show my real face.” But that won't stop him living the life he loves. “I’m just sad that people can think that,” he said. “I love animals and enjoy play-acting like a collie.” He continued: “This is my hobby, so I will carry on. It makes me happy and other people happy, too.” Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Kim Kardashian teased as the face of a major fashion brand
Reality TV star-turned-entrepreneur Kim Kardashian is the new face of fashion label Marc Jacobs. The brand posted a close-up picture of Kardashian’s face on Instagram, as part of the autumn/winter 2023 campaign. The AW23 ready-to-wear collection was debuted at the New York Public Library in June earlier this year, and was populated with masculine tailoring, oversized shoulders, high-waisted pleated trousers and mini dresses. According to WWD, the show notes were written by ChatGPT. They read: “The Marc Jacobs fashion show captivated audiences with its innovative approach to blending menswear-inspired tailoring with feminine aesthetics. “The collection showcased impeccably tailored suits designed exclusively for women, accompanied by flat shoes, black tights and stunning altered gowns. The predominantly black and white palette created a striking visual impact, emphasising the timeless elegance and versatility of monochrome fashion.” WWD confirmed Kardashian as the new face of the brand, and said she was pictured in some of these oversized silhouettes in the advertising campaign, photographed by Tyrone Lebon. Marc Jacobs is no stranger to casting major celebrities in its fashion campaigns – Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, American rappers Ice Spice and Doja Cat, socialite Paris Hilton and actor Winona Ryder have all modelled for the brand. Kardashian, 42, is the founder of shapewear brand Skims, which last month was reportedly valued at $4 billion (£3 billion). She’s also featured in many other brand ad campaigns over the years. She’s modelled for luxury fashion house Balenciaga, and collaborated with shoe brand Stuart Weitzman on their autumn 2022 campaign called ‘Stand Strong’. Kardashian also co-designed Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2023 collection, and appeared in the glamorous accompanying ad campaign. Kardashian has also worn Marc Jacobs before – and posted one of these ensembles on Instagram in May. Her outfit was a collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Fendi – she wore a white corset and a fitted long denim skirt, which was accessorised with an exaggerated white furry hat, white leather gloves and see-through platform heels.
