From Margot Robbie to Amelia Dimoldenberg: All the best pink carpet looks at the London premiere of Barbie
The premiere of the highly anticipated Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, premiered in London on Wednesday evening (12 July), and the pink carpet did not disappoint. Fans queued for hours for the premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square, awaiting the chance to see their favourite celebrities bring their Barbie best to the star-studded event. There were high expectations for Margot Robbie, who plays the lead doll, to up the ante on her outfit for the night. The star has been praised for all of her Barbie-inspired looks during the global press tour, as she became known for recreating some of the world’s most famous doll’s iconic outfits. Other cast members who dazzled on the pink carpet included Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken, America Ferrera, Dua Lipa, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, and Sharon Rooney. A flurry of UK celebrities also appeared at the premiere, including former Love Island winners Ekin-Su and Davide, who recently broke up, and Liberty Poole. Presenters including Rylan Clark and Amelia Dimoldenberg were also in attendance, with the latter replicating a truly iconic (and apt) Barbie look for her role as host on the pink carpet. Here are our favourite looks from the Barbie premiere in London. Margot Robbie The Australian actor floored fans when she stepped onto the pink carpet in a pale pink custom Vivienne Westwood gown with a white trimmed neckline and opera gloves. The look replicated that of the 1960 Enchanted Evening Barbie, continuing Robbie’s streak of emulating the doll’s most famous outfits during the film’s press tour. She accessorised with a pearl choker and barely-there glittery heels, and swept her hair in an elegant updo. Amelia Dimoldenberg The Chicken Shop Date presenter, who was hosting the pink carpet, took a leaf out of Robbie’s book and replicated another Barbie look. Dimoldenberg arrived dressed as I Can Be… News Anchor Barbie, complete with a pink tweed jacket with black trim, a satin skirt with a ruffle hem and a blonde wig with a side-swept fringe that looked exactly like the doll’s. Sharing her look, Dimoldenberg tweeted: “Never do anything by halves.” America Ferrera The Ugly Betty star looked stunning in a plunging black Roland Mouret dress encrusted in rhinestones, with sheer black opera globes and a black clutch. She completed the look with heels from Giuseppe Zanotti. Sharing her look, as well as some fun selfies with the rest of the cast, on Instagram, Ferrera said: “London Barbie premiere [black heart emoji] [disco ball emoji] Fun with some faves.” Nicola Coughlan Derry Girls star Coughlan was dripping in sparkle when she stepped onto the pink carpet in a stunning custom Wiederhoeft dress, featuring a square neckline and finger loop sleeves that created a dramatic effect. Her red hair was kept off her face and styled with low-key, but classic waves, and she wore silver heels to top off the look. Dua Lipa The “One Kiss” singer wore a colourful Versace chainmail gown from the label’s La Vacanza collection, which Lipa co-designed. The slinky dress featured a neon butterfly and floral print and gold chain straps. She continued the garden theme by accessorising with ladybug charms and butterfly brooches, as well as silver stilettos with butterfly appliques. Hari Nef The actor went against the grain on the pink carpet by appearing in a more goth-inspired look. Nef, who plays a Barbie in the film, wore a black dress by Dilara Findikoglu with a high neck and cap sleeves, and covered in… cutlery? Silver butter knives created an unusual silhouette for Nef, who completed the stand-out look with nude heels and short red hair. Simu Liu Kens aren’t meant to stand out in Barbie’s universe, but Simu Liu tossed that rule out the window with his all-black Fendi ensemble at the premiere. At first glance, his outfit might appear monotonous, but a closer look reveals a halter neck top and trousers with delicate floral embroidery and a black jumper tied casually around his shoulders. Liu also wore platform boots, a Ben Baller gold chain and an Audemars Piguet watch. Ncuti Gatwa Did someone say “hotpants”? Sex Education star Gatwa certainly heard the call, as he turned up on the pink carpet in a custom Valentino look, featuring a dramatic white cape, a very low-cut, long-sleeved top and super-short sparkly silver shorts. Never one to blend into the background, he capped off the eye-popping look with a white hat and chunky black shoes, as well as a silver necklace from Tiffany & Co. Greta Gerwig The film’s director joined the event in a Barbiecore pale pink Erdem gown and matching cape. The cape’s neckline was encrusted with silver rhinestones and she carried a small silver clutch from Jimmy Choo to match. This is only the second time Gerwig has worn pink on the Barbie press tour, with the first being a vibrant pink Valentino dress with a matching blazer, bag and studded pumps. Gemma Collins says she wouldn’t ‘need to’ consider surrogacy: ‘I can have the best doctors going’
Gemma Collins has opened up about her future plans for motherhood, amid her battle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and an underactive thyroid. The former The Only Way is Essex star dismissed the suggestion that she could use a surrogate to have children, declaring that she has “the best doctors going” to help her get pregnant when she is ready. Speaking to OK! Magazine at the Chelsea Flower Show recently, Collins, 42, admitted that she did not know if she sees herself ever having children in the future, despite having previously said she was “desperate” to have a baby with fiancé Rami Hawash. “Obviously I’ve got PCOS and all of that,” she said. “I could have a child at 50. If I’d had kids sooner, I would probably have been crazy, whereas now, I’m Miss Organic, I can just be at Zen with the child.” However, Collins said that going to mother and toddler groups has “never interested” her, unless they are in “Knightsbridge, darling”. “I’m happy to host my own one indoors or around the vegetable patch,” she continued. “A bit of organic pressed champagne! “It’s a lot having a kid. It’s a big commitment but it’s also very rewarding. But my life will take me where it’d going to take me. It’s taken me this far and as sure as hell, it’s not over yet.” Asked if she would consider having a child via surrogate, the TV personality said: “I don’t think I’ll need too. I’m The GC, honey. I can have the best doctors going. I’ll just ring one up and say, ‘Right, come on, get me pregnant!” Collins also gave an update on her mental health and said she was off all anti-depression medication as it “really clouded” her judgement. In her 2021 documentary Gemma Collins: Self-Harm & Me, Collins revealed that she was “always put off having children” due to the fear that her depression and self-harming would make her an “unfit mother”. However, instead of taking medication to treat the condition, she now uses a device called the Flow Neuroscience Headset. The device, created by a Swedish company, uses electric pulses to increase brain activity and is currently being trialled by the NHS. Collins said: “I do it in the morning when I’m making a cup of tea. It’s a head device programmed to an app on your phone and it stimulates the frontal area of the brain linked to depression.” The I’m A Celebrity star claimed the headset has so far helped to clear her head and bring her emotions back, which she said were “numbed” by anti-depressants. “I’ve got all my feelings again and I felt that my judgement was quite clouded. I didn’t feel like I could see dodgy people around me. People were taking me for granted but my brain is so sharp now and I’ve got no side effects,” she said. “I was desperate to get off medication – but everyone is different and they need to consult their GP. But I was like, ‘I don’t want them in my life.’ That’s it.” Read More Dani Dyer chooses matching initial names for newborn twin daughters: ‘My heart feels so full’ Succession’s Sarah Snook welcomes her first child with husband Dave Lawson Queer parents need everyone’s support, not people calling us ‘breeders’ Gemma Collins urges women to talk openly about incontinence Sarah Beeny shares health update after all-clear from breast cancer Crackdown on vape adverts targeting kids – what parents can do

Adrian Newey reveals ‘emotional’ Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton regret
Red Bull design chief Adrian Newey admits he has an “emotional” regret about not working for Ferrari during his career – as well as teaming up with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Newey, the man chiefly responsible for this year’s RB19 car which secured the 2023 constructors’ championship on Sunday in Japan, has worked for Red Bull since 2006 but has been approached by Ferrari three times throughout his career. The 64-year-old engineer worked for Williams and McLaren prior to his time at Red Bull and revealed to the Beyond the Grid podcast that Ferrari offered him a role three times, with a move in 1993 the most tempting. “[Ferrari approached] me in my IndyCar days, which probably doesn’t count, then ’93 and famously in 2014,” he said. “The ’93 one was very tempting.” However, Newey detailed that the breakdown of his first marriage – impacted by his time in the United States with IndyCar – meant he opted against making a move to Maranello, Ferrari’s HQ in Italy, due to his second marriage. Another advance in 2014, Newey admits, was due to Red Bull’s engine issues at the start of Mercedes’ hybrid-era dominance. “My discussions in 2013 with Ferrari were purely out of frustration,” Newey said. “I really didn’t want to leave but we were in this position where Renault hadn’t produced a competitive turbo hybrid engine. “We went to see Carlos Ghosn [ex-Renault CEO] to try and put pressure on him to up the budget. Ghosn’s reply was ‘Well I have no interest in Formula 1. I’m only in it because my marketing people say I should be.’ That was such a depressing place to be.” Asked if he regretted turning down Ferrari, Newey responded: “Emotionally, I guess, to a point. Yes. “But just as, for instance, working with Fernando and Lewis would have been fabulous. But it never happened. It’s just circumstance sometimes, that’s the way it is.” Newey has been involved in six F1 drivers’ victories at Red Bull and is on the cusp of a seventh with Max Verstappen able to secure his third championship next week in Qatar. The Brit has won a total of 12 constructors’ championships with three different teams during his long and successful career in Formula 1.
