Beyonce has kicked off her Renaissance World Tour in Stockholm, Sweden, in suitable style. This is the Texan singer’s first world tour in seven years, and she performed the 36-song set list in at least nine different outfits. Styled by regular collaborator Shiona Turini, a stylist and costume designer, the glittering array of custom looks called upon high fashion designers from all over the world. Beyonce, 41, kicked off the show in a heritage British brand Alexander McQueen, designed by Sarah Burton. The heavily beaded and crystal-bejewelled bodysuit featured ‘anatomical embroidery’, according to the brand, had geometric accents on the hips and was inspired by outfits from the label’s autumn/winter 2023 collection. Another look was a sparkly catsuit that had a slightly surreal edge with hands creeping over the design. This was a custom outfit by Loewe, which is helmed by Northern Irish fashion designer Jonathan Anderson. Loewe has been responsible for some major pop culture moments this year – most memorably dressing Rihanna in all red for the Super Bowl half-time show. Beyonce has been a longtime fan of French fashion house Mugler – famously wearing a structured gold bodysuit from the label in the 2008 music video for Sweet Dreams. She once again turned to the brand for her onstage fashion, wearing at least two Mugler looks in Stockholm. One outfit seemed to be inspired by the brand’s iconic spring/summer 1997 couture collection, which was based around insects. Beyonce’s outfit was black and yellow and had an insect-style headpiece, emulating a bee – perhaps a nod to the name of her fandom, the Beyhive. In theme with the disco fashion of the night – to match the 70s-inspired sound of the Renaissance album – Beyonce also wore a silver bodysuit from French brand Courreges. Other outfits included a black look heavily embroidered in pearls, designed by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing – with whom Beyonce created a collaboration fashion collection in March – a silver caped outfit by cult designer Coperni, and an iridescent look by London-based designer David Koma. The tour is set to include several UK dates, including London’s Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. According to Forbes, the Renaissance tour could gross between up to 2.4 billion dollars (£1.9 billion) from tickets alone by the time it ends in September. Beyonce released her seventh studio album, Renaissance, last year, with the sound inspired by house music and dancefloor-focused Afrobeats. It was met with wide acclaim, and in February she became the most decorated Grammy artist of all time after collecting her 32nd trophy at the 65th annual ceremony. Broadcasting veteran Anne Diamond has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The GB News presenter said she had received the diagnosis the same day as finding out she was to be made OBE. After beginning her career in regional news, Diamond went on to work for both ITV and the BBC, becoming a star of daytime TV in the 1980s and 1990s. She presented programmes like BBC One’s Good Morning with Anne And Nick, TV-am’s Good Morning Britain and TV Weekly. She joined GB News in 2022 to host weekend breakfast shows with Stephen Dixon, though has been off air for six months. Speaking to GB News’ Dan Wootton, she revealed she had undergone a double mastectomy in her “fight against breast cancer”, which she described as “a long journey”. “I haven’t been on a world cruise, which is what I know social media has been saying… because I’m well known now for loving cruises,” she said. “It’s been a fight against breast cancer. That’s what it’s been. It’s been a long journey. And five months later, I’m still not at the end of the journey, but I’m through it enough to come back to work.” Diamond recalled how she had learned the news on the same morning she was told via email that she had been awarded an OBE for her campaigning on cot deaths. She and her then-husband Mike Hollingsworth lost their son Sebastian in 1990 after he died from sudden infant death syndrome (Sids) – commonly called cot death. Diamond joined forces with the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID), now known as The Lullaby Trust, and the Department of Health to launch the successful Back to Sleep campaign. She was made OBE in the 2023 New Year Honours for services to public health and charity. “It was a wonderful moment and that was like 9.30 in the morning,” she told GB News. “But I knew then, because I’d already seen my GP, that I had to go to a breast cancer screening thing later in the morning. I thought I would just go for a mammogram, and a couple of tests and I’d be free in an hour. “I spent the entire morning at my local hospital where they did everything, biopsies, X-rays, CT scans, a couple of mammograms, everything, and by lunchtime I was still there. “And a lovely lady came with a lanyard around her neck that said MacMillan Cancer Care and I knew then it was serious.” Diamond added that she did not have advice for others as she was “still going through it”, but added that she was “well enough” to return to work. The presenter said she has had a full mastectomy and a “load of radiotherapy”. “So it’s been a journey, but I’m not pretending for a minute that I am extraordinary, because I am fully aware that a quarter of women in this country are going through what I’ve just gone through and I don’t have any advice to give. Diamond will return to GB News on Saturday to host Breakfast with Dixon. Manchester United star Katie Zelem wants one thing if England win the World Cup: Oreo milkshakes. “After games, I like to have an Oreo milkshake. That’s my go-to thing – so simple and easy, but I just love it. So, if we win, I will have a lot of Oreo milkshakes,” Zelem, 27, says with a laugh. But if Oreo milkshakes are Zelem’s top priority after she’s played, what fuels her before a match? “Before games, I’ll always eat pasta. I lived in Italy for a year, so pasta is one of my favourite things and [living in Italy] really gave me inspiration for different types, rather than just the basic stuff.” Training for a major tournament is no small feat, and combined with nutrition, camp before the tournament will be intense.“Obviously, people are all at different stages of [fitness]; some finished the league a bit earlier, and some played more minutes than others, so it’s about getting on the same page, and then ramping it up. It’ll be running, training, gym, everything you can think of.” Facing disappointment when she was not selected for the Euros team, the fresh Lioness has worked hard to get the call-up.“Last year, with the Euros, it didn’t quite go to plan, so I’m so proud of the season I’ve had. We’ve got our rewards by being selected to represent England at a World Cup,” Manchester-born Zelem divulges. “My first major tournament and I’m so excited.” But waiting for the news as to whether she would be heading to Australia and New Zealand, where the Women’s World Cup is taking place this summer, was nerve-wracking. Zelem didn’t want to miss her shot again. “I was actually at home, waiting,” she says. We knew we were going to get a FaceTime call, so it was an anxious morning for everyone.” Heading to her first World Cup, there are bound to be some nerves. “It is a good thing to feel nervous. You’re out. You’re at a World Cup. It should be a little bit nerve-wracking, playing with and against the best players in the world. Nerves are good. It’s just about channelling them in the right way,” Zelem adds calmly. Zelem is looking forward to being reunited with legendary Lioness, fellow midfielder and Barcelona player, Keira Walsh. “I do love joining up with the girls and playing with everyone, but Keira Walsh is a really good friend of mine and I have known her for about 15 years. We played together at the youth age groups a lot, we have done a lot of training camps in England,” the footballer explains. “She moved, and went from being on the doorstep to a totally different country. So, there’ll be a nice reunion at our first major tournament together.” Of course, there will be some noticeable players missing in Beth Mead and Leah Williamson, as ACL injuries have ravaged teams all over the world this season. “One or two is unlucky, but I think so many is just crazy. It certainly needs to be looked at – whether it’s our training load or the changes in play in minutes. As you see the women’s game rise and grow, the expectations become to play more games and have less recovery,” Zelem notes. It means the Lionesses of the Euros have had a shake-up. The new squad is missing its captain and top scorer, but Zelem and the rest of the team are still dreaming of World Cup victory.
