TL;DR: As of Sept. 19, you can get an iRobot Roomba s9+ for $799 instead of $999.99. That 20% discount has become pretty standard lately; we suspect it will drop lower in the coming weeks.

Looking to save on a robot vacuum that can handle pet hair? This is our top pick for the job, but don't be fooled by that "sale" price — it's likely about to drop way lower in the coming weeks.

Pets can provide some of life’s greatest pleasures, but unless you enjoy sweeping or vacuuming pet hair daily, the cleaning part is less enjoyable. The iRobot Roomba s9+ is currently 20% off at $799 on Amazon instead of the regular price of $999.99. We’ve seen this robot vacuum for as low as $599 in the past few weeks though, so we would actually suggest you wait to check out and set a price alert instead: it’s possible the upcoming Prime Big Deal Days sale in October will offer a better value if you’re not in a rush.

The iRobot Roomba S9+ means business when it comes to convenient cleaning — there's a reason it snagged the top spot in our roundup of the best robot vacuums for pet hair. The smart mapping feature means you won’t have to watch it repeatedly bump into the same chair leg and it has 40 times the suction power compared to the 600 Series Roombas. (A much-needed distinction when it comes to lifting pet hair from carpet.)

The robot vacuum also comes with a convenient disposal system. The Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal of the s9+ empties itself into the base so you can avoid cleaning it out frequently. The bin is capable of storing up to 60 days worth of whatever it sucks up from the floor.

The auto disposal function, however, is loud. “The few seconds the vac takes to empty its bin into the Clean Base sound like a jet engine taking off beside your house,” said Mashable’s Leah Stodart in her review of the Roomba s9+. If you don’t enjoy the sound of a jet engine, the s9+ has a scheduling feature so it can clean while you’re not home. However, your pet might not be a fan.
