Sofía Vergara leads Netflix's new limited series about the life of Griselda Blanco, Colombian drug lord of the Medellín cartel known as "The Godmother," whose reign, built through shipping cocaine from Colombia to Miami, reached its peak in the '70s and '80s. Blanco was killed by police in 2012.
The streaming service has released its first teaser trailer for Griselda, from Narcos creators Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz, with Baiz also directing this tale of crime, murder, and strategy. In the clip, you'll see a glimpse of Vergara in the titular role, surrounded by men demanding to know who is in charge.
"When we meet Griselda, she is a woman overrun by the male-dominated world around her," said Baiz, in a press statement. "We also see her evolution as she makes use of her oppression as a means of terror...The duplicity is what I find so fascinating about Griselda, and Sofía Vergara captures her essence fiercely."
