Mind-blowing video shows what babies can hear in the womb
Mind-blowing video shows what babies can hear in the womb
An extraordinary recreation of what a baby can hear in the womb has got people "tearing up" across social media. The creator Dimitris Chronis Animus Mentis Productions shared the heartwarming simulation on YouTube, where it racked up thousands of views. It shows a baby in the mother's womb surrounded by amniotic fluid during the last trimester of pregnancy. The external sounds are muffled, but the creator noted that "babies become increasingly capable of hearing a range of musical tones, and studies confirm that babies react — in the womb — to the sounds they hear." He went on to suggest that if a song is replayed, the late-term foetus may recognise it as a newborn. "I came up with the idea to simulate the above situation using spatial sound. I managed to put an ambisonic recorder in an enclosed basket filled with water and recorded the sound of an African lullaby coming through an outside Bluetooth speaker," he wrote, before advising listeners to use headphones while playing. "It is nice to know what my niece used to listen to, and I may say it is calming even for a grown-up to hear," one person wrote, while another added: "Amazing beyond time and space, beautiful light." A third commented on how catchy it was, writing: "Now I’m gonna have THIS in my head all night…" Meanwhile, one person wrote: "This is adorable I started tearing up." McLaren boss Zak Brown says track-limits fiasco must never happen again
McLaren boss Zak Brown says track-limits fiasco must never happen again
McLaren boss Zak Brown has called on Formula One’s governing body to ensure the track-limits fiasco which overshadowed the Austrian Grand Prix never happens again. Drivers were penalised throughout the weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg for crossing the white lines – with the final classification for Sunday’s race only settled five hours after the chequered flag. Eight of the 20-strong grid were dealt post-race sanctions by the FIA, with Lewis Hamilton demoted from seventh to eighth. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz slipped two places to sixth, while Frenchman Esteban Ocon was handed an extraordinary half-a-minute’s worth of combined penalties for track-limit infringements. Earlier in the weekend, world champion Max Verstappen accused race director Niels Wittich of making the grid’s stars look like “amateurs”. In all, more than 100 laps were deleted during Sunday’s race. “It definitely wasn’t ideal what happened, and that’s stating the obvious,” said Brown. “Where we need to do a better job is that we knew this was going to be a problem on Friday and yet we just kind of watched it happen. “We need to make sure it never happens again, and that we do a proper debrief and understand how we could have prevented it in the first place or handled it differently.” McLaren driver Lando Norris benefited from Sainz’s post-race penalty to be promoted to fourth to take his best result of a difficult season for the British team. Brown, speaking at the reveal of a one-off livery for McLaren’s home race at Silverstone this weekend, continued: “I’ll take my hat off to the FIA for addressing the issue and I think it would have been easy to say, ‘this is going to cause a lot of noise, let’s just kind of get it right next time’. “For them to put their hands and say there were some penalties that needed to be addressed, I thought that was a brave decision. “But we can’t have it again. We can’t have a race and then five hours later you have that degree of change in the result.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Lando Norris says Just Stop Oil protest at Silverstone would be ‘stupid’ Don’t put your life in danger – British GP boss has stark warning for protesters Max Verstappen refuses to ponder title hat-trick despite another emphatic win

Wendy’s announces free chicken nuggets for the rest of 2023
Wendy’s announces free chicken nuggets for the rest of 2023
Wendy’s will be offering a free treat to help people get through the middle of the week for the rest of the year. Starting on Wednesday 8 November, the fast food chain will be giving away free packs of six chicken nuggets with any purchase on every Wednesday until 2024, according to a press release. To get your free treat, the chain is asking customers to redeem the offer using their app or website, or they can also scan the digital Wendy’s Rewards offer code in their respective Wendy’s restaurant. This offer is only available through the next eight weeks. The fast food chain is also offering a special deal for Uber Eats customers. If they purchase a 10-piece pack of chicken nuggets between 6 November and 12 November, they will get a second one for free. Another deal is available for DoorDash customers too. If they add a Dr Pepper to their order between 16 November and 22 November, they will be able to earn $5 off an order that is $20 or higher. This isn’t the first time the brand has decided to give away free items. On 27 October, when Taylor Swift released the re-recording of her album titled “1989”, Wendy’s gave away fries in all sizes to celebrate the album when customers purchased a small Frosty or larger using the app. Wendy’s will be bringing back a fan-favourite menu item just in time for the holiday season in addition to all of their deals. Starting on 14 November, the restaurant will bring back the peppermint Frosty that was first added to the menu last year. When initially released, this was the first-ever holiday-flavoured Frosty the chain had added to its menu. With this new seasonal menu item comes the end of their current seasonal menu item, the pumpkin spice Frosty, which has been on the menu since 12 September. Wendy’s won’t be the only fast food restaurant ringing in the holiday season with free food. Dunkin’ Donuts also recently announced that they would be giving out free doughnut on Wednesdays from 1 November to 31 December. Reward members can earn their free sweet treats with the purchase of any drink.
